Amguri College remains the premier institute of higher education, imparting knowledge to the entire locality of Amguri and its nearby area. Brought under the deficit system of Grant-in-Aid in 1977, the college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and recognized by the University Grants Commission Act, 1950.
The college offers undergraduate degrees in Arts and Commerce and runs Higher Secondary Courses. It also offers programmes in distance mode under Dibrugarh University Distance Education Council and KKHSOU.
Enriched with co-education activities, the college has grown into a hub of more than 1,500 students from all sections of society. Recently, NAAC awarded Grade A (CGPA 3.05) upon visit.

Community Outreach
Amguri College performs various extension activities through its NSS, NCC, Women Study Centre, Eco Club and Women Cell. The Women Cell has adopted a missing village and conducts socio-economic development activities.
The pilot project "Maitri, Ek Gyan Yatra" — flagged off on 10th March 2016 under the Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar District — connected college faculty with feeder schools in the periphery, and was adjudged a grand success.
