Established on 17th July, 1967, Amguri College remains the premier institute of higher education, imparting knowledge to the entire locality of Amguri and its nearby area. The college is brought under the deficit system of Grant-in-Aid in 1977 and is affiliated to the Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh. The college is recognized by University Grants Commission Act, 1950. The college offers undergraduate degrees in Arts and Commerce under the affiliating university. Besides, it runs Higher Secondary Courses and offers plethora of programmes in distance mode under Dibrugarh University Distance Education Council and Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU).
The College, enriched with all round co-education activities, has its widespread fame in the entire region and has now turned into a hub of more than 1500 students from all sections of the society.
The College has completed its 50 year journey. Recently NAAC visited Amguri College and awarded Grade A CGPA 3.05).
